Omni Houston Hotel

Before I proceed, I want to clarify that I do not recommend this hotel. I didn't recommend it before I stayed there, and I certainly don't recommend it now. That being said, how are you guys? This hotel is notorious for flooding, as it's located right next to Buffalo Bayou. So, if it's raining when you go, I highly advise against staying there.

To be honest, there was nothing impressive about this hotel. As a native of Houston, I know the history behind this hotel, and it's just not worth it. Even if you've never been, it's a hotel that the city of Houston warns against due to frequent flooding and almost being submerged.

I won a mystery room on Hotwire.com, and it turned out to be at this Omni hotel location. I wasn't impressed, but I wanted to try it out since I was younger. Upon arrival, you have the option of valet or regular parking. Overnight parking costs $22, and there is a parking garage within walking distance. As soon as you walk in, you're hit with a strong smell of mildew and mold, to which I'm allergic. This made me feel very uncomfortable during my stay.

The rooms usually cost between $175 and $200 per night, which is ridiculous considering the frequent flooding. However, I got my king-size room for $88 plus tax, which was a big difference, and I'm glad I didn't spend more.

The customer service was great, and the staff was very friendly. However, the atmosphere was off, probably because of the mold. The staff informed me that only the main lobby/check-in area had been renovated, and the rest of the hotel needs a complete renovation.

Overall, I didn't like this hotel, but I don't want to continue trashing it. I hope this helps you make an informed decision about whether or not to stay there. See you on the next post!
