Hotel Derek

Wow, Popular Hotel Derek was a disappointment. From the moment I arrived until the end, the experience was frustrating. Let's get into it. Hotel Derek is a contemporary hotel with artsy rooms, a terrace pool, and a bar with a clubby atmosphere. The hotel is located on the corner of S610 and Westheimer, which is always congested. The hotel charges an average of $200 per night, but you can get it for half the price, mostly $99 a night, through third-party websites like Groupon.

The parking situation is terrible, and so is the location. Check-in is at 4 pm, which is rush hour, and it's challenging to get into the hotel. Valet parking costs between $27-$30 per night. I found the hotel staff to be okay, but beware of charges for things you never use, like the pool and workout area, which are charged per night.

The problems started when I entered my room. The decor was old and outdated, and the air conditioning was broken. I reported the issue to the front desk, and they moved me to another room, which was smaller than the first one. I had to go back down to the front desk again, and they moved me yet again. The robes that the hotel provides are not complimentary and cost $200, so be careful not to touch them. The water bottles in the room are also chargeable, so it's better to get your own.

At the time of my stay, I had to pay for Wi-Fi, which is now free. I didn't even get my deposit back, and when I called the hotel to talk to the manager, they were unhelpful. I will never go to this hotel again. I'd rather stay at my all-time favorite hotel, DoubleTree by the Galleria, which is located down the street.

In conclusion, I do not recommend this hotel, but you can try it out for yourself and let me know how you enjoyed it. See you next time!
